1866 Speakeasy Bar
Deep underground lies our 150-year-old basement. 1866 Speakeasy Bar, where Cambridge’s most interesting conversations unfold, where locals become regulars and where deals are sealed over exceptional cocktails. Inspired by Chicago’s speakeasy culture, 1866 offers live music, crafted libations and a beverage menu designed to be the star of the show.

CLements' Hotel
Archibald Clements: Pioneer, Founder, Mayor and Philanthropist
Archibald Clements built the original hotel on this site in 1866. Clements was the 3rd mayor of Cambridge and one of the pioneers and founders of the Cambridge township. He was on the board of the Waikato hospital and, after moving to Auckland, he became a trustee of the ASB bank, a position he held for many years. Other roles included being on the first board of Knox Hospital in Remuera which looked after patients with incurable illnesses who were unable to afford private care. He died at 91 and bequeathed his estate to charity
