David Janalik
Kia ora, I’m your Executive Chef at The Clements Hotel.
My love for food began at home, inspired by the honest, comforting dishes crafted by my mother and grandmother. That foundation led me to formal training in culinary school, and later to roles in both traditional and high-end kitchens across my home country, the Czech Republic.
After many years contributing to New Zealand’s vibrant culinary landscape, I’m proud to bring a European perspective to the rich seasonal produce we have here. At The Clements, I’m fortunate to lead a talented team who share the same vision: to create food that feels thoughtful, expressive, and genuinely memorable.
